Overview
Machine Guarding built to your application
Almost every guard that gets defeated was designed without asking how the machine is loaded, cleaned and maintained. If reaching a jam means unbolting a panel, the panel comes off and stays off. If the maintenance access is a metre from where the fitter needs to stand, the door gets propped open.
So the risk assessment comes first, and the second question is how the job is done on a bad day. Guarding that fits both is guarding that is still in place in three years — which is the only kind that protects anyone.

Full enclosure with interlocked access, muted part entry and an internal reset.

Guarding around a single machine, with access panels for tooling change.

Machine Guarding: common questions
Can you guard machines you did not build?
Yes, and it is a regular scope. Existing machines being brought up to standard, or brought back to standard after guards were removed, usually start with a survey and a risk assessment rather than a quotation.
Do you supply just the fencing, or the safety circuit too?
Either. Fencing alone where your team does the electrical work. Full scope — risk assessment, guarding, interlocks, safety relay or safety PLC, validation and the documented record — where you want one party accountable for the result.
Our operators keep defeating the guard. What can be done?
Find out why first. A defeated guard is nearly always a design problem, not a discipline problem — access in the wrong place, a reset that forces someone into the cell, a jam that cannot be cleared from outside. We survey the job as it is actually done and redesign around it.
What documentation do we get?
The risk assessment, guarding drawings, safety circuit drawings, the safety validation record, and the access and reset procedures. That is the pack your safety audit will ask for.
